Elissa Slotkin and Mike Rogers Lead in Michigan's U.S. Senate Race

Democratic U.S. Rep. Elissa Slotkin and Republican ex-Congressman Mike Rogers were leading in their U.S. Senate primary races in Michigan with about three percent of the vote counted Tuesday night.

Slotkin was leading actor, businessman and community activist Hill Harper of Detroit 73.7 percent to 26.3 percent with 8 percent of the vote counted in the Democratic primary election, the Detroit News reports.

In the Republican race, Rogers held a commanding lead of 71.2 percent, with 5 percent of the GOP votes counted. Former Congressman Justin Amash had 11.7 percent; Grosse Pointe Park businessman Sandy Pensler, who had dropped out of the race, had 7.9 percent; and Stevensville physician Sherry O'Donnell had at 9.3 percent. 

Slotkin and Rogers are expected to win their races and face-off in November.
