It's been seven years since Little Caesars Arena opened. Yet, the plan to develop the area has fallen far short. And now comes more delays.
Kirk Pinho of Crain's Detroit Business reports:
Roughly two years after the Ilitch family and developer Stephen Ross announced a $1.53 billion vision for a kick-started District Detroit area, there's still in some cases at least a year to go until construction begins on the first of those 10 proposed projects.
The updated timelines for a large hotel next to Little Caesars Arena and a residential tower near the under-construction University of Michigan Center for Innovation in Detroit came Tuesday evening during a Community Benefits Ordinance meeting to update the public and Neighborhood Advisory Council on the status of projects required to go through the CBO process.
The new schedule marks another setback in the plan to build out the Ilitch family’s District Detroit area, first floated as a concept in 2014 and anchored by the home of the Detroit Red Wings and Pistons.
