House of Pure Vin, a Black-owned wine shop on Woodward in downtown Detroit, is closing its doors on Dec. 27 after nine years in business.
"House of Pure Vin is more than just a store—it’s a cultural hub, a community, and a legacy," the shop said in a posting on Facebook. "With only 21 days left before its closing, we’re celebrating everything this space has brought to Detroit.
The posting said "starting December 12 through December 27, it’s a non-stop celebration of HOPV’s culture and life. From wine tastings to community events, there’s something happening every day."
Crain's Detroit Business reports:
Owner Regina Gaines opened House of Pure Vin in September 2015 with Terry Mullins and Andrea Dunbar. The team invested about $450,000 into the business, which was among the first wave of businesses to open downtown in Detroit's most recent resurgence. At the time, the wine shop filled a void for the growing office-worker community of about 40,000 in the central business district.
