Emmy-award winning WDIV reporter Shawn Ley has left the station, the latest in a stream of seasoned on-air talent to depart in the past year.

An internal staff memo issued Wednesday from Bob Ellis, WDIV's vice president and general manager simply said:

"Team, Shawn Ley is no longer with WDIV. We wish him the best in his future endeavors. If you have any questions, please come see me. Thank you."

When asked for comment Wednesday night Ellis wrote in an email to Deadline Detroit: "I can confirm that Shawn Ley no longer works for WDIV.  I cannot comment further on private personnel matters."

Ley could not be reached for comment Wednesday night. A person at the station simply said he was not working tonight. His photo and biography has been removed from the WDIV website.

Ley worked in Dayton, Phoenix, and Cincinnati before coming to WDIV to work as an anchor and reporter.

Last summer, on-air talent Rod Meloni, Paula Tutman, Mara MacDonald,  Bernie Smilovitz and Tim Pamplin took buyouts offered by the Graham Holdings Company, owner of WDIV. Last December, anchor Devin Scillian took a buyout.

It's unclear what if anything Ley was offered before his departure in the way of a buyout or compensation.
