As if there weren’t already enough reasons to be angry at the Pontiac mother charged with abandoning her three children, who were living in squalor.
Now come this.
Kelli Bryant, 34, faces additional charges -- three counts of welfare fraud for allegedly pocketing more than $29,000 in government aid intended to help her children, writes Tresa Baldas of the Detroit Free Press.
“The defendant appears to have effectively abandoned her children while collecting their public assistance,” Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said in a statement. “This crime is, first and foremost, a theft from Kelli Bryant’s children. These resources were intended to ensure they had the basic necessities that were denied to them. The children deserved better.”
