Peter Karmanos Jr. and Danialle Karmanos
Danialle Karmanos is taking over the reins from her husband, Peter Karmanos Jr., at MadDog Technology LLC in Birmingham.
"I’m thrilled to step into the role of CEO at MadDog Technology, a company built on innovation, creativity, and forward-thinking solutions," Danialle Karmanos, 51, said in a post on LinkedIn.
"Throughout my career, I’ve focused on driving progress and creating opportunities for growth, from launching new ventures to developing spaces that bring people together. I’m excited to use my experience and skills to lead this incredible team and push the boundaries of what’s possible at MadDog Technology."
Peter Karmanos Jr., who just turned 82, was a co-founder of Compuware. After leaving that company, he started MadDog in 2014, which has been described as a technology investment company focused on startups and venture funding.
He is the former owner of the NHL team, the Carolina Hurricanes, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2015. He has four children with Danialle.
“He (Peter) is at the office every day," Danialle tells Crain's Detroit Business. "He's still very active in the business. He has no plans to slow down or retire; he will be involved for the rest of his life, but I'm the CEO."
MadDog's biggest company is Resolute, a building energy-saving company based in Troy.
Danialle Karmanos, who is known for her philanthropy, served on the Wayne State University Board of Governors from 2011 to 2013. She has written for Styleline Magazine and authored a book on her husband titled Pete Karmanos – A Life in Progress.
In 2008, Gov. Jennifer Granholm appointed her to the Michigan Film Office Advisory Council.
She currently serves on various boards, including the board of trustees for the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.
She graduated from Dearborn High School in 1991 and earned an undergraduate degree from Wayne State University in 1998.
