Jordan Love, 29, of Detroit, has been charged with stabbing and wounding a dog at home on Detroit's east side.

On Feb. 7, around 2 p.m., Detroit Animal Control (DAC) officers were dispatched to a home in the 15200 block of Manning Street in response to reports of a dog stabbing.

Officers forced entry into the home and found the wounded dog in the basement, suffering from multiple stab wounds to its torso, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. A total of three dogs and four cats were seized from Love’s home.

Authorities allege that around 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 7, Love posted a video of the injured dog on social media and subsequently fled the state.

Love was arrested in Greenville, South Carolina, on March 20, 2025, and extradited back to Michigan, where Love faces charges of animals—killing/torturing—second degree, and abandoning/cruelty to four to ten animals.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy issued a statement, saying her office "has always taken the abuse of animals very seriously. We have impacted legislation and have been proactive with the applicable laws—seeking and fighting to change them in many instances.

"Although we never really anticipated the alleged brutality and cruelty that this case represents, as a result of our earlier efforts, this case is a clear representation of why better laws were needed."

Love was arraigned Thursday morning in Detroit 36th District Court before Magistrate William Burton and was given a $50,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether.

A bond re-determination hearing is set for Monday at 9:00 a.m.
