Fieger Law announced this week that it has hired former WDIV reporter Shawn Ley as Director of Media Relations and Investigations, effective immediately.
"Shawn is an award-winning breaking news reporter who will bring his grit and hard work to our winning trial team to help fight for our clients," the firm said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
"I am honored to join the Fieger Law family and am grateful for this opportunity. Everyone has welcomed me with open arms," Ley said in a statement on Facebook.
Deadline Detroit first reported on Feb. 19 that the Emmy Award-winning reporter Shawn Ley had left the station.
An internal staff memo issued at the time by Bob Ellis, WDIV's Vice President and General Manager, simply said:
"Team, Shawn Ley is no longer with WDIV. We wish him the best in his future endeavors. If you have any questions, please come see me. Thank you."
When asked for comment at the time, Ellis wrote in an email to Deadline Detroit: "I can confirm that Shawn Ley no longer works for WDIV. I cannot comment further on private personnel matters."
Attempts to reach Ley for comment have been unsuccessful.
Ley worked in Dayton, Phoenix, and Cincinnati before joining WDIV as an anchor and reporter.
