The FBI is investigating newly elected Detroit 36th District Judge Andrea Bradley-Baskin and her father in a case focusing on an alleged conspiracy involving bribery, fraud, and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals in the probate court system, including seniors and those with developmental disabilities, The Detroit News reports, citing a sealed federal search warrant.
The investigation was underway before she was elected last November to the bench.

FBI agents have seized more than $580,000 in recent weeks while raiding multiple locations across Metro Detroit, according to records obtained by The News. Some of the money and records belong to wards of the probate court system, whose lives are now at risk after being unable to access care and other essential services, according to a businessman whose home and bank accounts were raided by the FBI.
Bradley, 45, declined to comment to The News. Her father, Avery Bradley, did not respond to messages from the publication.

Bradley-Baskin is a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. She currently serves as the general counsel for the 36th District Court. Prior to this role, Bradley-Baskin was an Administrative Law Judge for the State of Michigan and City of Detroit; was a law clerk to Governor Granholm and Wayne County Corporation Council; and founded a law firm. She is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.
