Dwayne Eugene Howell, 51, of Grosse Pointe Farms, faces sexual assault charges involving a 15-year-old Detroit girl. Howell is a friend of the victim's family.
According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, on May 28 around 2:30 p.m., Howell picked up the girl from her school in Detroit and drove to the 470 block of Belanger Street in Grosse Pointe Farms, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
An investigation by the Grosse Pointe Farms Police Department led to his arrest on Monday.
Howell faces two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct — with a person 13 to 15 years old — accosting a minor for immoral purposes, and DNA profiling — refusing or resisting to provide samples.
He was arraigned Wednesday in Grosse Pointe Farms Municipal Court and received a $200,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether. A probable cause conference is set for Oct. 29.
