Detroit Tigers’ former ace pitcher Justin Verlander, 42, is returning home.
The Tigers signed him to a one-year deal worth $13 million, with $11 million deferred until 2030, MLB.com.
Verlander played for the Tigers from 2005–2017 before being traded to Houston. He played for the Mets in 2023 and was traded later that year back to Houston. In 2025, he played for the San Francisco Giants, signing a one-year contract for $15 million.
He had a shaky start last year with the Giants, but was dominant in his last 13 appearances.
