Updated: Suspect Arrested in Triple Homicide in Southwest Detroit Basement

Update: 6:05 p.m. Thursday -- A suspect has been arrested in the triple homicide of three men who were found Wednsday in the basement of a home on Detroit's southwest side, WXYZ reports.

The name of person was not released.

The men were ages 72, 66 and 65. One owned the home.

Detroit police are investigating the death of three men who were found Wednesday afternoon wrapped in towels and carpeting in the basement of a home on Edsel Street in southwest Detroit, near Downriver, WXYZ reports.

Detroit Police Major Crimes Cmdr. Rebecca McKay told reporters that officers got a 911 call around 12:50 p.m. about a missing person. After responding to the scene, she said a man ran up to officers and said he'd just been assaulted inside a home on Edsel and there were dead people inside, WXYZ reports.

McKay said the three dead men, who appeared to be over 50 years of age, had been brutally assaulted.
