Businessman and third-generation funeral director Paddy Lynch, who bought the shuttered Dutch Girl Donuts on Woodward near 7 Mile in Detroit and reopened it in 2024, announced Wednesday that he's opening a second Dutch Girl Donuts shop in the city.
Lynch will put the second shop in a historic building at 2820 East Grand Boulevard that he purchased. It's between Oakland Avenue and I-75 and expected to open in the spring.
"Beginning this spring, the building’s main storefront along East Grand Boulevard will become the second location of Dutch Girl Donuts, bringing a well-known Detroit staple to the North End," a press release said.
Lynch has been reviving — or bringing back from the dead — some businesses in distressed Detroit neighborhoods.
Back in 2017, he renovated and reopened The Schvitz on Oakland Avenue, a legendary bathhouse that also serves food. In May 2024, he reopened the beloved Dutch Girl Donuts on Woodward, which had been closed since 2021.
In 2025, Karl Kurz, the third-generation owner of the German bar the Dakota Inn Rathskeller on John R and Six Mile Road in Detroit, sold the business to Lynch.
