After Fire, Checker Bar in Downtown Detroit to Reopen Wednesday

Checker Bar at 124 Cadillac Square in downtown Detroit closed Jan. 14, 2025, due to a utility fire.

After more than a year, the bar, known for its burgers, will reopen on Wednesday, March 4.

“Detroit doesn’t quit — and neither do we,” the bar wrote on Facebook. “After a year of rebuilding, Checker Bar rises again.”
