Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery
After lots of speculaton, Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery, who became part of the dynamic duo in the backfield with Jahmyr Gibbs, has been traded to the Houston Texans, The Athletic reports.
The trade is for center Juice Scruggs, a fourth-round pick and a seventh-round pick, The Athletic reports.
Montgomery, 28, a humble and beloved player, played three seasons in Detroit. Last season, reports circulated that he was concerned about not getting enough playing time. He also had a tougher time chalking up yardage behind a weak offensive line that at times had difficulty opening holes.
Mike Payton of AZ Sports answers the question as to whether Scruggs is the answer to the Lions' center problem:
I could not possibly doubt that anymore than I’m doubting it now. Scruggs was not a big part of this trade. He was an add-on to the deal. The Lions would not be wise to end their center search here, and they more than likely are not doing that. They’re more than aware of how important it is that they find their next guy.
