Iranian-Backed Group Claims Responsibility for Cyberattack on Michigan-Based Stryker

An Iranian-linked hacking group on Wednesday claimed responsibility for a destructive cyberattack that shut down systems at Stryker, a global medical device company based in Portage, a suburb of Kalamazoo, Reuters reports.

The company, which employs 56,000 people and has operations in 61 countries, said staff and contractors reported that the logo of an Iran-linked hacking group appeared on login pages, Reuters reports.

Stryker is “experiencing a global network disruption to our Microsoft environment as a result of a cyberattack,” a spokesperson said. “We have no indication of ransomware or malware and believe the incident is contained.”
