Ferndale's Drifter Coffee Shop Closes After 7 Years

Drifter Coffee at 770 Woodward Heights in Ferndale closed on Sunday after seven years in business.

In a posting on Instagram, the business said: "We took a big risk last year hoping to expand our business by opening a bigger space. Unfortunately, that project falling through was the beginning of our downfall."

"We have made the extremely difficult decision to close down the coffee shop after an amazing 7-year run," the posting said.

"Projections were looking really good, but a few unexpected expenses have put us in a position that we can’t sustainably keep going. We wish we had been able to give more notice. Small businesses are incredibly hard to keep alive, and we’ve done our best, but this is the end of the road."
