Jeff Vaughn, a former anchor and reporter at WDIV and WXYZ, has filed a lawsuit alleging he was fired from a Los Angeles TV station for being older, white and straight, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Vaughn, 58, an anchor for KCAL and KCBS for eight years, alleges in the federal lawsuits in California that in 2023 he was replaced by "a younger minority news anchor because he was an experienced, older white, heterosexual, male," the Freep writes.

He alleges the CBS-owned station group didn’t give him a reason for his firing.

Vaughn worked at WDIV in Detroit as a reporter from 1999-2007. In 2013, he returned to Detroit to anchor the 5 p.m. news for WXYZ and report on business and the auto industry, writes Julie Hinds of the Freep. He left in 2015 to join KCAL and KCBS.
