Health Department Closes Detroit Belle Isle Beach Due to E. coli

Water sample testing conducted on July 10 by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has resulted in the closing of the Belle Isle Beach for elevagted levels of E. coli bacteria until further notice.

The cith has urged people to avoid contact with the water in this area.

"If you recently swam at Belle Isle Beach over the weekend and are experiencing gastrointestinal illness symptoms of nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea or vomiting, call your personal physician if symptoms last more than 48 hours," the city said.
