Fox 2's morning anchor Amy Andrews is taking a hiatus to deal with mental health issues.

In a posting Sunday on X and Facebook, she writes:

Thank you so much to all of those who’ve been reaching out. My severe depression and anxiety have returned in full force. I’ve stepped away from the anchor desk temporarily to battle with all I have so I can come back and spend my mornings with you. Much love always…

Julie Hinds of the Detroit Free Press reports:

In a July 21 reply to a post about her absence that asked if she will "be back on in the morning," Andrews said yes and shared that she was on medical leave.

It's not the first time Andrews has taken a leave to deal with mental health issues.

In June 2022, she announced she was returning to the anchor desk after being gone for several weeks to deal with "severe depression and anxiety."

"I finally had to take a step back and address it so I could move forward," she tweeted at the time. "We never know what others are dealing with so always try to be kind and don’t ever be ashamed to admit that you may need a little help."

Andrews attended Indiana University for three years before transferring to Oakland University where she graduated cum laude with a BA in Journalism, according to her station bio.  She also graduated from Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts in Southfield.

Her first job was as an anchor and reporter at a small TV station in Colorado. She went on to work at stations in Nevada, California and the Flint/Saginaw market before joining Fox 2 in September 2011.
