Two years ago, Republican businessman John James inched by Democrat Carl Marlinga to win the 10th Congressional District race, which includes parts of Oakland and Macomb counties.

Now, the incumbent Congressman James, 43, will square off in a rematch in the November election against challenger Marlinga, 77, a former prosecutor and judge in Macomb.

Around midnight Tuesday, the Associated Press declared Marlinga the winner in the Democratic primary. James was unopposed.

Marlinga collected 48 percent of the vote, compared the second place candidate, Warren financial planner Diane Young who had around 26 percent.
