Wilfredo Figueroa-Berrios, 47, a nurse at Detroit Medical Center's Sinai-Grace Hospital, is charged with sexually assaulting a 41-year-old woman in a porta-john in downtown Detroit near Comerica Park.
According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, Figueroa-Berrios allegedly sexually assaulted the woman on May 9 after forcing his way into the porta-john outside 47 East Adams St.
Authorities said he knew the woman, but they were not in a relationship.
Figueroa-Berrios, who was arraigned Thursday morning in Detroit's 36th District Court, faces charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, a misdemeanor. He received a $100,000 cash/surety bond, along with a GPS tether, no contact with the victim, and a curfew.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said he was also charged last week in 36th District Court with three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with a sexual assault that occurred May 9 at Sinai-Grace Hospital.
Authorities allege that while working as a nurse at the hospital on August 18, he sexually assaulted a patient.
A spokesperson for the Detroit Medical Center did not immediately respond to an email from Deadline Detroit on Thursday morning, requesting comment on the charges or whether the nurse is still on the job or employed at the hospital.
